The inspiration behind these interviews is that I like nothing more than hearing about how other artists work, what’s influenced them, their favourite tools, and what their workspaces are like.
Thank you, that’s interesting for me to read, I had thought maybe next year about expanding these into a podcast but I do like the words and pictures format and it would be a shame to lose that so it’s great for me to hear you like it.
Yes, podcasts are a lot of work and as I’m writing this around my existing art practice I will probably be thinking about it and that’s all 😂
Sometimes I love to listen to artist interviews too while I’m cleaning or cooking. Perhaps these might be something different in the future but certainly a way way off.
This format will be remaining the same for quite some time!
🤣 Oh I love that Alison! Btw my sister fell in love with one of your images and tells me she purchased a print from your Etsy shop. I hope this generated a few more sales for you too!
Jo!!!! I LOVE Alison Rosby and this was an absolute delight! I love that you got in touch with Alison after seeing her work when we met up here. This is a gorgeous interview and I’ve enjoyed reading very much 💛✨
This was wonderful. I loved it all the artist story, the drawings . We all need those maps so we too can get lost in the wonder of life through the eye of the artist. Thank you so much 🌞🖌️
I love her work and like her as a person.
Above all, thank you for doing the interview in written form.

I just see you are thinking of podcasts.
I am one of those people to whom you can tell anything. In one ear, out the other.
I need to see it to understand and learn it.

Yes, in written format we get to see the art. Otherwise the artist has to flap it around in front of the camera.
Also, we are all pressed for time. I read fast.
With videos, you are stuck. And people Uhm and Ah a lot, it's often awkward. And not everybody likes the camera.
If Jo had asked me to do this as a video, I would have declined!! 🙈

How lovely! Do thank her from me… though of course I’ll have thanked her on Etsy. X
I will! I’m seeing her tomorrow xx

It’s great when these things happen, it gives off such great energy! Thank you for the introduction!
Such a lovely way with the maps and her illustrations are gorgeous 🥰
And I get the nostalgia element too, somehow they transport me back to rockpooling as a child!
Oh I love that. It’s magical how one thing sparks another!
I love how she draws on maps like that!
I have to say I’ve been keeping an eye out for anything I might like to draw on since I saw these!
Posted too soon and can’t edit 🤪. Wonderful stuff! 🗺️🌊🎨
No theres a lovely artist named Deborah Maguire here on Substack. Maybe you may enjoy taking a look at her work for a story.
Oh thanks, I’ll take a look
