I’ve been sending out my trade catalogues over the summer, slowly, as I decided to add an illustration of the shop I was sending them out to on their envelopes. I think it’s worked, I’ve had orders from 3 brand new stockists, several from ‘dormant shops who’ve not ordered for a while and lots of lovely comments

I adore mine, it’s a keeper. My postman loved it too

Here’s my checklist for what I put in my trade catalogue;

  • A bestselling card, or my favourite new design if I’m launching a new collection, on the front

  • Another strong image with my logo and website clearly printed on the back

  • A welcoming photograph of myself with a short introduction as to who I am. How long I’ve been working, any awards? other brand names. This should be brief, shops are busy, they don’t want to read an essay.

  • Clear pricing

  • Minimum order for free shipping

  • Shipping costs for small orders under my minimum

  • Sizes of the cards

  • Colours of the envelopes

  • Delivery timescales

  • Online shop details

  • Invoice terms of payment

  • Images of all cards with their SKU code and description

  • Any special offers or bespoke services

In the video, I take you through my actual catalogue and talk you though what’s in there and why, plus a very brief overview of how I made it in Procreate (it assumes you’re familiar with Procreate). I think I’ve covered everything between the list above and the video but feel free to ask a question in the comments.
